What programs are available through Express Entry?
Federal Skilled Worker
This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. Federal Skilled Worker Class candidates do not require any connection to Canada in order to be eligible for the program. Minimum requirements for work experience, language proficiency and education can all be completed outside of Canada.
Federal Skilled Trades
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is a great way for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents and it allows them to become PRs based on the qualifications in their trade. The government of Canada recognizes that communities and cities across the country experience labour shortages in many skilled trades occupations. It singles out workers who are qualified for specific jobs based on their field’s requirements.
Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class is designed for skilled workers with work experience in Canada who want to become permanent residents. Canadian Experience Class candidates have built up at least one year of Canadian work experience. This is a highly valued factor under the CRS, and as such gives these applicants access to important points for their Canadian experience. Canadian Experience Class applications are processed quickly, often within three to six months due to minimal required documentation.
Canadian Provincial Programs
Several streams of provincial immigration programs are also connected to Express Entry. Applicants who are nominated by the provincial governments under the streams aligned with the system may expect faster federal processing.
How Does EE Choose People for PR?
- Once you submit a profile, your name will be entered into the pool of all those who have applied for Express Entry.
- You’ll be ranked against other people in the pool, and your ranking is based on how many points you have.
- If you are at the top of your rankings, then a profile will be drawn (selected) from among applications. You’ll receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
