What obligations do I have to the Canadian government if a sponsor my parents or grandparents?

When you sponsor a person, the Government of Canada requires that sponsors sign an undertaking. This means they agree to provide for your sponsored’s essential needs in Canada for 20 years after the arrival

Can I sponsor my parents and grandparents if I have collected Employment Insurance (EI) and/or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)?

Yes, it is true that EI and CERB are not seen as social assistance by IRCC. You still must meet the Minimum Necessary Income requirement which has been set based on how many people will be coming into Canada with you (including parents or grandparents).
