The Post-Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from eligible Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs), such as universities or colleges, to obtain an open work permit. This is a great opportunity for graduates because it will allow them to gain valuable Canadian work experience in skilled occupations in NOC skill type 0 and level A or B which can qualify them under Express Entry!

Unlike most Canadian work permits, the PGWP does not require an LMIA. This makes it easier for graduates to gain valuable experience in their field and become eligible for Canada’s permanent residency programs including one of the following pathways:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
  • Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP)
  • Quebec Immigration Programs
